Our home design process comprises three key stages and relies on strong client consultation throughout. We’ve created this process to allow us to bring your creative ideas to life and design a stunning home that exceeds your expectations.
Initial Design Consultation
Our initial design consultation at our office or we can come to you to discuss your design objectives, lifestyle, budget and any specific requirements. We will also run through the services that you may require, any external consultants that may be needed, and confirm the fees for our services.
Please bring with you as much information as you can, as well as your ideas and requirements, Property Description (e.g. lot number and registered plan number) as well as any other information you feel is relevant. Be aware of copyright laws, we cannot reproduce/copy a design or part of a design from another designer without their written permission.
Preliminary Design
Once the initial design stage is complete, other services – such as site visits, contour plans, services location, engineering consultants or town planning consultants – may be required.
As we create potential design solutions for your home, we will consider all aspects of design including site orientation, sun position, local prevailing breezes, functionality, aesthetics and energy efficiency – and, of course, your budget.
We begin to create 3D images of your home design and work closely with you to refine this design to ensure that it exceeds your expectations.
The plans that we deliver at the conclusion of this stage are ready for you to take to a builder to obtain an estimated build cost.
Working Drawings
Once you are completely satisfied with your new home design, we prepare detailed working drawings and documentation for the development application (building approval).
These final documents will include some or all of the following:
- floor plans
- elevations
- sections
- site plans
- bracing layout
- floor framing plans
- detail drawings
- energy assessment
- 3D images
- blank floor plans for electrical layouts
- floor finishes
Your local council may ask that you provide additional documentation from other external consultants. We are happy to coordinate this on your behalf if required.
